Here are some frequently asked questions. If anything is missing, just give me a shout and I’ll happily answer any more for you.
What will working with you be like?
You will be held in a non judgement and loving space that allows you to open up in ways that you may never have done before. Learning to express yourself in a vulnerable way is huge to your evolution and so making you feel comfortable in showing up in this way is super important to me.
Our work together will be heavily weighted in transformational conversations, allowing you to unlock and identify what is going on for you, what you need and how to move forward. If needed there will be opportunities for some healing of what comes up for you, allowing you to release some heavy weight you may have been consciously or unconsciously carrying.
Throughout our sessions we will also incorporate Human Design, astrology and the gene keys when relevant to help you tap in to information about yourself that you may not be aware of. This will be to help you understand yourself and others better, to get clear on your own direction and what ways to show up in life that are aligned to you (rather that pushing through ways you always thought you should be but never felt natural) and to uncover how you are here to thrive, not just survive.
In between sessions you will have access to me via Voxer – somewhere you can voice note or message me to express what is going on for you, ask for support or simply to update me. The time in between sessions can have some of the biggest breakthroughs and can some big shifts, and being able to express what is going on in the moment with someone who is on this journey by your side and to help you move through these moments and challenges that come up, is underrated.
What if I don’t know what I need?
I can’t help but feel butterflies when I think of those that so deeply know something needs to change but don’t know what. I love working with people who are in this space and think its such an exciting time – even though I completely remember how daunting and uncertain it feels. It can be so liberating when what we need is actually very simple to implement, and the uncovering of it can be so healing and freeing. It also can open up completely new chapters for you, and our work together will make these new chapters less overwhelming and much more achievable than your mind may believe. I do want to point out however that if you are at this stage you are at the beginning of an enriching journey. And I want to emphasis the word journey. This is unlikely to be an overnight breakthrough, as often when we open up a new realisation we are welcomed by even more questions. It is amazing though how quickly things can start to have a positive impact on your life.
What is coaching?
Lets start with what it isn’t. If you hear the word coach and straight away think of a sports coach (or the like) than please get that thought out your mind. Certainly with me as your coach, the experience will be quite different. Coaching is not about me giving you new knowledge, telling you what to do or pushing you. It is about empowering you, helping you find clarity and your truth and supporting you with taking aligned action that is right for you. Although I will share with you about your Human Design, this is actually just reminding you of what you already unconsciously know. Coaching is actually a tool to unlock your truth, challenge your thoughts and beliefs that you may be wrongly attached to, and to propel you forward. You may experience some coaching techniques or exercises if they would be beneficial, however the simplicity of the conversations, questions and space holding will always be where the biggest power comes from. Something you really need to experience to believe.
How do I know if coaching is for me?
Simply put, if you want to make a change – whatever kind of change that may be, then coaching could be for you. The next question is who is the right coach for you, and this is important as every coach brings something unique to the table. (The exact reason we all do discovery calls to check we are the right fit. I will never say yes to working with someone if it does not feel right and I believe they will get more from another coach) – take a look at the next question for more on finding the right coach.
Some questions you can ask yourself to see if coaching feels right for you:
- When you think of what you want to change (no need for exact details) would you benefit from support and guidance?
- Are you ready to commit to yourself and making change?
- Are you willing to get curious on what is possible for you and take aligned action?
If these answers are a yes, then coaching sounds spot on.
How do I know who is the right coach for me?
If I am honest, you will know. If you get a good feeling of wanting to work with somebody (over the feeling of needing to), and if you possibly can’t quite describe why they feel right for you – that’s normally the best sign that they are. Your gut knows.
Having a discovery call with a few coaches is what I recommend, so you can become clearer on what you need and who feels like the best fit. Trust and the ability to be open and honest with your coach is essential in a coaching partnership.
How is coaching different to therapy or mentoring?
Coaching is forward facing and although we may visit the past, it is in order to understand yourself better and to help you move forward. Coaching is also not advice giving. You will only ever be the expert of you, and coaching fully embraces that. Although we may brainstorm together, and I will share you design with you, I will never be telling you what to do or who you are, but guiding you to find your right answers for yourself. A special side effect of coaching is that you are reminded that you are your greatest authority and as a result you deepen your trust in yourself.
What is a discovery call?
A discovery call is a free no obligation zoom call with me to discuss the possibility of working together. The key aims of the call are :
- to discuss where you are at, where you want to be and what support you need
- to check we are a good fit for each other
- to allow for any questions
The call will be 30 minutes – 1 hour depending on your time and what you would like to cover.
What is the investment?
We straight away go to money when we think of investment, however this work requires a variety of investments.
- Time – Time for sessions and time for contemplations, reflections and action taking in between sessions. Although you can’t put an amount of time that will be needed in between sessions, just being aware that you will want space, even if its just on your commute to work, is important.
- Energy – the energy to show up and lean in to the experience the best you can. I really recommend showing up committed to our time together to get the most out of it.
- Money – Money is a powerful exchange and physical commitment to making change. Please note that the cost for The Realignment Journey is shared on our discovery call, as although I mainly work on an 8 week program, I will always review this based on your needs on the call.
Where did you train?
I am an ICF accredited coach through Animas Coaching.
For Human Design, Astrology and Gene Keys, this training is a mixture of many courses and self learning.
I am also constantly learning and growing my toolbox to support clients (and myself) further through courses and self study.
How often do the sessions take place?
Sessions can be weekly or fortnightly. For ease, where possible we will commit to the same day of the week and time for each session, however this can be much more flexible to fit your schedule if needed.
Sessions can be weekday during the day or selected evening, and weekends on request.
What if I don’t feel I need many sessions?
It is crucial to me that you feel that you are getting something out of our sessions, and although sometimes – especially in the beginning, you may not always be able to see loads shifting, it is incredible what is happening under the surface.
I do however believe that although 8 sessions predominately works well for my clients, that not everybody wants or requires the same and so this will be looked at on the discovery call.
If however during out time together you feel like you are complete earlier than scheduled please bring this to my attention so we can review our contract together and shorten the time (or extend it) as needed. I will also bring it to your attention if I suspect you may not need all of our sessions or if we possibly need a shift in the goals we set at the beginning.
What if I decide this isn’t right for me?
Although rare (and in fact I am yet to experience this), it is possible that you realise that this work together isn’t the right fit for you.
Please ensure that you let me know as soon as possible so we can first see if anything needs to be tweaked in sessions, or to look at closing our contract early.
My priority is to support your growth and will not want to waste either of our time if this isn’t working. Honesty and openness between us is key.
What are the next steps?
Next steps would be to book in a discovery call, and from there we will discuss how we would like our partnership to work and agree a contract together. This will include looking at dates, times and regularity of sessions, aims of our time together and cost/ payment.
